Then there’s CC Cream.
What’s next?
I was at Watson’s SM North Edsa last month, browsing through
the aisles of make-up, when I noticed the Deborah Milano brand.
Made in Italy
I was curious whether the brand is from the US or Italy, so
I approached the saleslady who was helpful enough to answer my questions about
the brand. She did confirm that their products are made in Italy.
This got me excited because as we all know, Italy is the
land of art and fashion. And make-up is art. As for safety, safecosmetics.org
says the European Union regulations are much stricter than those in the United
States, so that’s also a plus.
Naturally, my next question was: “What are your bestselling
products?” The saleslady showed me their Comfort Mat Foundation and Atomic
Red Mat lipstick. I dabbed a bit of the Comfort MAT Foundation on my wrist
to check its consistency. It was light and smooth, but I have dry, acne-prone
skin so I asked for a product that’s more suitable for my skin type. She then
showed me a bottle of the DD Daily Dream Foundation.
Great for Daily Use
I liked that it said “daily,” so I got the impression that
this was perfect for everyday use. I tested the lightest shade (01 fair), and I
liked the creamy, thick, but non-sticky consistency. It was smooth and velvety. Once
you blend it, you’ll also notice that there’s a subtle shimmer (not tacky
glitter), which gives the skin a brightening effect.
Anti-Age Foundation
On the bottle, it says the the product is an “anti-age
foundation” with “radiant, evening, regenerating effect.” It’s an Anti-Age
Foundation with Day & Night Serum Complex and SPF 15. So this is a make-up
and skincare product in one bottle.
Here are the ingredients listed on the Deborah Milano

UREA, PROPYLPARABEN, PHENOXYETHANOL +/-: CI 77891, CI 77492, CI 77491, CI
77499.
Hypoallergenic
The product also claims to be hypoallergenic. I had the
ingredients analyzed on Cosdna.com,
and true enough, only 1 ingredient was flagged by the website to be a potential
irritant with a rating of (0-1), which was extremely low and was therefore not
something to be concerned about.
I took a photo of my bare face, then my my face with one
layer of the foundation and then another one with two layers of it:
As you can see, my bare face looks pale and yellow-toned, with
dark circles and some small spots on my forehead.
After one layer of the foundation, my skin tone looks more
even and it has a healthy tint to it. It slightly covered my tiny spots and
dark circles. It looks very natural to me, just like my skin, but better.
After a second layer, my skin looked smoother and softer. It also further hid my dark circles. It was still natural enough to let my natural skin
show through. This gave me a decent medium coverage.
I had no concealer on. I just have my Biore
Aqua Rich Watery sunscreen underneath and Benefit
Porefessional face primer.
I finished off my simple, natural look with a brown Mamonde
Easy Drawing Gel Eyeliner, a little bit of taupe-colored shadow from L.A.
Colors, and Deborah Milano 07 Atomic Red Mat lipstick (which I will also be reviewing
soon!). I set my foundation with my Canmake Marshmallow
Finish powder in Matte Ochre.
Here are other details about the product:
Consistency: Creamy and moisturizing, but not too thick. Easy
to blend. Doesn’t suffocate the skin.
Coverage: Light to medium. Looks and feels skin-like.
Color: To me this is neither a yellow nor a pink-toned
foundation. This is more of a warm, neutral foundation. This makes a lot of
sense since Italian women are known to have warm or olive skin tones. This did
oxidize a bit, like most foundations I’ve tried, but it still looked very
natural on me because I pick shades that are one or two shades lighter than my
skin tone. So if you have acidic skin like mine, make sure to pick a lighter
shade no matter what foundation brand
you choose.
Performance: This foundation did not fade away or make me
look greasy. It stayed in place for about six hours until I took it off with my
make-up remover.
Pros:
- Creamy, but not sticky
- Does not turn orange or gray on me at the end of the day
- Has anti-aging benefits
- Hydrating and covers up dry patches well
- Light enough for daily use (perfect for office)
- Has a brightening effect
- Has SPF
- Does not transfer
- Fresh, pleasant smell
- Did not make my skin itch.
Cons:
- Has fragrance (I personally like the fresh fragrance, but some women may be sensitive to it).
- Limited shade range. I got the lightest shade, so super fair women (think NC 15 on MAC) might not find their shade here. It’s great for slightly fair to medium skin though (majority of Filipino women's skin tone), especially morena skin.
Should You Buy the DD Daily Dream Foundation?
Buy the DD Daily Dream Foundation if you want a
multi-tasking foundation with skin care and anti-aging benefits. This is great
for women with normal to dry skin, especially for those who are working in
air-conditioned offices because cold temps can be very drying. I recommend this anti-aging makeup for women in their 20s and up, because it's always better to start early when it comes to protecting your skin and delaying the skin aging process. This product is available at selected Watson's stores and SM stores and retails for P799.
Overall, I had a great first experience with this product. I
want to try their blushes and eyeshadows, too. Will review their Atomic Red Mat Lipstick soon.
